Brace yourself people this is gonna be a long one.
As some of u may of may not know, I was in Dubai a couple of weeks back for a The Biland World Final Kart GP. It was a spectacular 11 days. Although the event was only held over the 1st to the 2nd, was there earlier to have some fun holidaying. 1st thing i would like to mention to all the damn fools telling me it's a desert and it's gonna be hot there: (Emp u guys!!). Dubai in winter consist of sunny skies like ours but 35mph winds of 18 degrees temp. Richard and I only brought 1 pair of cold weather clothing, so the entire trip was about us freezing our nuts off in shorts and T-shirts.
The place was awesome, if your a car freak then make your way here because it is a car capital. My 1st step out of the airport and i was gazing upon one of the rarest and most beautiful machine made to transport people, The Rolls Royce Phantom. Dubai is a free trade zone and tax free haven. Your chances of seeing The Range Rover and Cayenne is similar to finding Toyota Harriers in MY. The locals live like Kings and the sky-scrapers count was well over the thousands. The roads are smooth and wondrous if not for the speed-trap radars every 500 metres. Our hotels were good and haggling for prices of goods was rather fair.
And now the event:
Biland World Final stands for one of the final phases in Karting championship. Only the best drivers from each country will qualify. Since we don't have a Biland calendar in MY, i got in as and invitation driver from Malaysia. Only 2 drivers from our country made it to the event, Natasha Seatter and yours truly. My category had 55 drivers in contention and sadly i must say, i am not ready for this level of racing. Nothing could prepare me for the speed, grip, aggression, and skills of the drivers. I could only rely on my determination and spirit to get it through the to all the way to the Second chance race. After ending the Group Division races, i was still unqualified to enter the Finals. However i did make it to the second chance race where the top six finishers will be eligible for Finals. I failed, very sorry guys. Was one position away from making top six until a Frenchy hit me up the arse and bent the rear axle, had to limp to the cheaquered flag from then on.
Hey i never expected to win but i did hope to qualify up to the final round, but there's only so much i can do. Good news is that i bought the Trulli Kart Chassis and SA250 Engine and brought it back here. It was a bargain, though we faced no problems with the Customs here, the airport officers in Dubai was making it difficult for us to check-in the chassis and not as cargo. But hey having VIP sponsors and the Crown Prince of Dubai himself (a competitor in the event) on your side they had to cave in eventually.
The chassis and experience is doing me good already. A week ago, for the 1st time, i took the top podium steps in the Final Round of the KKS championship. Powering the Trulli chassis through the Heats and Finals with dominance. Must say that it will be a promising calendar next year.
Anyways sorry for taking so long to bring an update. Been too busy and lazy. I've gotta enjoy the rest of my holidays, College starts in Jan. I guess that's all for now.
