This me every dry weekend

Rvl’s Pick:

Ordinary Life - Elizavetta

Starting from about 6 months back, the question “Where the hell have you been?!” or some form of it, has been quite a popular opener every time I stumble upon old friends or acquaintances. To which I’m quite unsure how to answer on most cases.

You see at the current stage in my life, socializing for working young adults happens during weekends either over drinks at popular bars and hangouts or feet stomping and thumping music at . It was easier the 1st two years of working to be partying Friday and Saturday nights but now, every time I get home on Fridays, I just ko-ed and wake to sunshine the next day. That leaves Saturdays for night outs and Shooting the bull.

However, ever since I took delivery of the Akai Onna couple months back, I take special note to go for “Speedy Sundays” instead. As this past time usually takes place very early Sunday morning and pretty much takes up the whole day (1st half riding, 2nd half sleeping). I find it impossible to make time to go out too late Saturday nights. On most occasions I make up bullshit stories and ffk everybody.

Don’t get me wrong, I like meeting people and socializing but I LOVE waking up every Sunday, gearing up as if I’m going to war and blast up/down twisty roads with my fellow misery seekers. Where I think most people are sheep, I think riders like myself fall under the shark category, if we stop too long, we die.

I’m really not good at this…

Rvl’s Pick:

Genesis – Justice

Fairings are coming in today, lets just hope that they haven’t managed to fuck up the bonding, repair and paint works. I think I’ve been able to get all the brackets straighten up and reinforced as much as I can. If everything goes to plan, the Akai Onna should be prepped by midnight tonight.

I’m not keeping my hopes up though, experience and age have thought me well on how very sour things can get when you get to excited over something. In any case, I’ll make plan B and C for assurance that I won’t be bored this weekend.

Post Script

Last night was a terrible golfing session, too many distractions.

Cycle of life…

Rvl’s Pick:

All the lonely people – The Beatles

I found out that it is just oh so easy to fall back into old habits and patterns. Its confirmed my earlier suspicions that I need constant reminders and encouragement to achieve specific goals.

Sigh, note to self, start having stronger determinations and drive for something. You’re on your own now.

Mia’s the bomb!

Rvl’s Pick: Strong Again – Mia Palencia

It’s been I don’t know how long since I’ve gone canyon strafing, partly due to an “Ouch!” episode involving the Akai Onna in front of my house and partly because of this sad shit piece of depressing weather we’re having recently. I’m having trouble waking up in the mornings cause its so cold, plus I’m getting tired of cleaning out road grime from all my modes of transport, so Sun, start shining already!

Mia’s album dropped last Friday and the night was mind blowing. Mia’s performances seem to have that effect on me, but that night I think it’s also because of the booze, the songs and the lovely characters of friends that I always get to meet whenever I attend her shows. Even the irritating traffic jam on the way over was a delight, it gave The Bunneh and I some time to catch up on what has transpired in our lives. I really should make a point to hang out with the BBS girls and old boys more often. Life was simpler back then.

Anyways on to Mia’s show, if you’ve somehow fucked up and managed to miss it then you’ve missed out on an extraordinary event. That show was quite possibly the last time she’s ever gonna be performing here in the country again before moving on to a blissful wedded life in the south country. That’s right, she’s getting married and shifting out folks so to those who procrastinated in making a supportive effort I say “Time’s up and eff off!”.

Mia is the kind artist that just inspires people to make changes in their lives, a hat trick of talents that make you want to stop whatever you’re doing to try get a piece of that music life we have all once upon a time dreamt about.

She done us all proud and will be sorely missed by family, friends, and fans alike.

p.s

Do yourselves a favour and buy her albums, I promise you its worth it.

THE POTRAIT OF DORIAN GRAY.....

Rvl’s Pick:

Lonely Highway – Hope

A long time ago, in another lifetime, I sold my soul to the Devil….

Recently he came to collect….

“Watch me smile, I’m screaming underneath… heading for the perfect breakdown”

I wish I could’ve been your happy ending…

Current Thoughts

Rvl’s Pick:

Perfect Breakdown – Elizavetta

Borrow a tank bag and side saddles for the Akai Onna.

Pack a light luggage consisting of beach wear and loose unwanted shirts.

Ready the solar charger, camera, iPod and prime the Akai Onna for a long journey.

Scramble enough cash to be able to afford a decent enough place to stay for a few days.

Get in gear and head north, far north, maybe north enough to cross borders.

Imagine self, passing various beautiful scenery and stopping for puffs along the way.

Find a beach, park, check in and piss the night away.

Cruise along beach roads in shorts with no shirt on and…

Chill the fuck out!

I’m just sayin..

Who wants to go on an adventure with me at years end?

Unfunny….

Rvl’s Pick:

So sorry – Feist

Hey I know I joke, a squirrel walks up to a tree and says:”I forgot to store acorns for winter and now I am dead” Ha! It is funny because the squirrel gets dead.

The One with The Bad Day Chain

RVL’s Pick:

Song for Sally – Flight of The Conchords

Why is it when people have bad days, they tend to spread that negative vibe to everyone else? Thus people with good days end up with bad days too. Society is stupid.

“ I think friends & lovers hurt you more than the fact of not having any “

It makes fools of us all…… doesn’t it?

Rvl’s Pick:

Let it go – Dirty South (Feat. Rudy)

Guilt is like struggling months and months working your ass off at a lousy desk job to be able to purchase a piece of shit tin can dream car that you’ve always wanted, and finally after suffering through the rigours of the processing and being approved for a loan after the 11th time trying, and finally getting in the car for the first time, starting it and hearing how good it sound, how it feels, how it smells, driving it out of the showroom and at the first traffic light a giant meteor crashes right on top of it, engulfing it in a blaze of fury, you get third degree burns everywhere, you’re privates have fallen off, the doctor says you’ll survive but you’d never walk again or eat other from a straw again, so you finally get discharged and arrive home to find that the bank has foreclose on your mortgage, you end up homeless, puss filled and too disgusting for anyone to even try sympathize, you get sick of living and wonders how everything go wrong, you blame god for everything and decide to kill yourself by fire and end up torching a public property and getting arrested instead and sentence for arson, you get raped in prison and because you have no skin, it stung like a mothafu!! You try hanging yourself and the rope breaks and then they put you in a padded cell where you can’t harm yourself and you suffocate yourself between the pillows and see God and he tells you that everything was a mistake, and you can’t enter heaven yet and get to live life again and at this point you jump into hell.

Yea guilt is awesomeness!

Grey skies and colourless carebears…

Rvl’s Pick:

What the Snowman learned about love – Stars

As I slowly turn my heads towards her, a tear streamed down her cheek and slowly but surely that tiny tear turned into a modest river which she quickly brushed away with her hands.

I sat solemnly staring at the figure sitting next to me, she cupped her face and shied away from me. It was at this point I realised that my own lap was drenched, my eyes sore and I thought to myself.

“Why do you have to be cruel to be kind?”

The act of kindness shouldn’t need a second part or a first part to hamper it. It should just be. It should just be… It’s a funny thing when you end up hurting someone you care most about in your life. The kind of funny that is painful like rubbing salt on a open wound, that is.

We human beings we have way of delussioning things we don’t understand into myths and fairytales to sooth ourselves when the unexpected or unacceptable happens. But truthfully I think the reason we all lie to ourselves (and others) is to relish some comfort in an otherwise cruel and unsympathetic world.

Of Flamingos and Giraffes...

Rvl’s Pick:

Epic Last Song - Does It Offend You, Yeah?

I wish I know the right words to say…

I wish I know the right things to do…

I wish I can make it all go away…

My biggest regret is failing you…

No matter what, we’ll always have the beautiful music

CLOSE THE BOOK AND LET IT GO

Rvl’s Pick:

First Love – Uffie

Dear friend,

Stop fooling around wit your life and start making something of it. She hurt you, she abandoned you, it’s her decision and she’s made it. She will say and do anything to justify her actions and nothing you can do will convince her otherwise. If she can’t appreciate you now then stop hoping and move on.

This chapter is done and let’s turn the page shall we? We all want closure, but sadly it does elude most of us. You won’t find it at her doorstep, you won’t find it anywhere, it’s not meant for you.

The reason it hasn’t been easy is because you haven’t let it go, your still hanging on to the pain hoping she would see it and comeback. I tell you from experience that she won’t. Let’s pick up the pieces and start over. I’ll be here like you were there for me brother.

THE REAL PRIORITY?

Rvl’s Pick:

Alex Mercer’s Revenge – College Humor (YouTube)

I’ve just had a stunning revelation, turns out, the one thing I spend most of my time concentrating on with is not the Lava Girl, or the Akai Onna or the Family… it’s the little flip up plastic thing I call my laptop. Be it at work or home or any random coffee shoppe.

This is very worrying, I think I’ll start calling it Sandra. Hey if I’m gonna commit so much of my time to something then I damn well like it to be able to have a pretty name. So as a heads up, if I’m not free most of the time, you all can blame Sandra.

TIS THE TIME WHEN VIGILANTES SHOULD APPEAR…

Rvl’s Pick:

The Vampire’s Assistant – Darren Shan

(Teenage Read)

If comic books were any true to life we’d have vigilantes’ superheroes roaming the streets right now. A recent scuttle involving a snatch crime got Reds and my blood running. I guess it’s much to hope for someone like Batman or your local friendly neighbourhood Spiderman to appear and save the day.

People should really take things into their own hands. The police are too busy squeezing bribes from the community. Can’t wait till I get the new diesel, then Reds and I can introduce our own brand of justice, Alex Mercer style.

I digress…..

One day, a little boy, was outside in the backyard stomping on honeybees.

When his father came out and saw what the little boy was doing, he made him stop right away and told the little boy, "That's it for you. No honey for a week."

Well, then the little boy went to the front yard of the house and started stomping on butterflies. When his father saw what Teddy was doing, he made him stop right away and said, "Stomping on butterflies is a terrible thing to do. Just for that, no butter for a week."

After that, little boy and his father went into the kitchen and saw the little boy's mother stomping on cockroaches.

The little boy turned to his father and said, "Should I tell her or should you?"

The Prevailing Weather….

Rvl’s Pick:

Dead End (Don Diablo Knows You Like It Hard Remix) – Master Shortie

My commute to work this morning brought back memories from the past. It was that faithful morning as I was being ferried in Kid Sister’s car across mountains. I recall rain and gloomy skies, I remember knuckle freezing temperatures.

Of the many memories, one in particular seemed to stand out, the fag I lit at the first service station we stopped at. As series of passing cars and cutesy stares from onnas in mini skirts, I breathe in the moment and right then and there, I wished the world could feel what I feel.

*******

Fast forward back to today, I just wished that my destination had a better and more exciting purpose other than going to work. I think its due time for a vacation.

Return to an old stomping ground....

Rvl’s Pick:

The Wind Blows (Steve Aoki Hurricane Remix) – All American Rejects

A kind invitation sometime last week ended up with me going back down memory lane to a past lifetime. The fellows from the local shop were throwing a track day for customers and Ducatistas before things slow down for the Fasting month.

I have to say although I am familiar with all the nooks and crannies of this track, this would be my 1st attempt going through these asphalt on 2 wheels. Cornering speeds and lines didn’t alter much, but what got me were the braking points, undulations, and body positions coming in and out of turns. Needless to say I was getting everything very wrong.

Since nobody kept track of laptimes, I wouldn't have a clue on what I did nor was I interested in finding out. Next time I’m applying “race mode”, providing the tires are still up to the job. Kudos and thanks to Steve TT and the White Devil for awesome pointers.

Akai Onna and the TT

Rvl’s Pick:

Tribal War – Hans Zimmer

There’s something blissful about having a clear bright Sunday for yourself. Having a nice clean piece of twisty tarmac. the smell of burnt rubber and heated brakes. The sound of a rippling combustion chamber between your legs.

And yet somebody was late…..
